Epcot Center

Epcot Center:

So we decided to hit up Epcot Center for the day. Since the all of the parks down here are still mobbed from families still on their Christmas vacation. Because of that we basically did that stuff people would skip. Since it still is the Christmas season each respective country within Epcot has some native Christmas tradition showcased complete with different representations of St. Nick.

Now a bit about Epcot itself: When Walt Disney envisioned Epcot he had in mind a futuristic high tech community where people would live. That never happened in Epcot (see Celebration for how it really happened), but rather it became a Worlds Fair of sorts showcasing the latest is technology and innovation with a slant towards the educational. Surrounding the lake you can visit little mockups of about a dozen different countries. Within each there is some sort of ride or event that showcases that countries culture. When going through here check out the Cast Member’s (this is what Disney calls employees) name tags for where they are from. Disney puts some effort into stocking each country with actually natives for staff. Go to Norway and you will most likely hear the ride safety instructions in a thick Norwegian accent. In recent years Epcot has revamped some of its attractions to give it more thrill rides. Recent editions have been Soaring, Test Track, and Mission Space. All provide you with the traditional amusement park motion thrills.
